Instagram: you’ve got to just love it. It’s such a wonderful place to discover new talent. That’s how I discovered today’s inspiring artist.
It’s Friday & I’m in Love with illustrator, Bryony Fripp.
I follow the fantastic stylist @charlottelovely. As I was scrolling through my feed one morning, ignoring my daughters pleas for biscuits at 6.30am in the morning, I stumbled across Charlotte’s latest styling work – “What are these whimsical prints contained within these creatively styled shots“, I asked myself. I immediately investigated and discovered Bryony Fripp.
What I adore about Bryony’s illustrations are their soft, simple and whimsical nature. They make me feel happy! I adore hand drawn illustrations, with their kooky lines and lovely textures. Perfectly imperfect. I think there’s a real backlash against shiny ‘Apple’ web 2.0 design and vector graphics at the moment. And Bryony is a master at making the drawn line look light and delicate. Like a spring day, fresh as a daisy. (I’m skipping around with my laptop as I write 😉 ) She also uses additional elements such as ribbon and paper on the print, to create a 3D, hand finished piece of art.
This is how Bryony describes her work:
I like to draw everyday objects and give them a quirky twist, this mostly includes food and dogs! Basically anything that makes me smile!I always always hand draw all of my line work as I have such a love for the look of a hand drawn line and then digitally add a touch of colour.
