Welcome to Mr Finch’s fairytale world. It’s Friday and I’m in Love with fantastic Mr Finch, a male, self taught textile artist. Who’d have thought eh?!
This weeks colour inspiration is a more romantic colour palette and moodboard for Valentines, initiated by the limited edition collection from IKEA. I love some of the pastel tones in the IKEA BRÅKIG Collection and I’ve picked the Coral Pink because, well it’s just so pretty and perfect for Valentines week.
I created this piece after producing a moodboard inspired by Pantone’s color of the year, Radiant Orchid. I’ve coloured them both slightly different. I liked them both so much I’ve included both versions here
This illustration started as a pencil sketch of Cate Blanchett. It’s evolved into something more dreamy. She reminds of that feeling you have when you are longing for a lost love.
I just can’t help falling in love the Edwardian fashion accessories and costumes. The Mr Selfridge Costume department has done it again in buckets. Beautiful dresses adorned with lace, hats with sculptural feathers set at a perfect angle, crystals and diamante galore.
Ever since I can remember I’ve loved words and type. The concept that 26 letters can be reordered to create beautiful prose and poetry, still baffles me. Words can divide or unite people, nations even. The design of those words is no less important.
I thought I’d join in the Pantone Colour of 2014 bandwagon, simply because it’s one of my favourite colours aka ‘Radiant Orchid’. In this design and colour inspired post, I’ve paired it with another favourite colour, a minty green.!
After seeing the original Radiant Orchid Lizzy Fashion Illustration, Teika Bellamy from Mothers Milk Books commissioned me to create an illustrated book cover for ‘Look At All The Women’ by Cathy Bryant.
