Colour Inspiration: The IKEA BRÅKIG Collection 2014

This weeks colour inspiration is a more romantic colour palette and moodboard for Valentines, initiated by the limited edition collection from IKEA. I love some of the pastel tones in the IKEA BRÅKIG Collection and I’ve picked the Coral Pink because, well it’s just so pretty and perfect for Valentines week.

This fresh, graphic and colourful, limited-edition collection is the result of a collaboration between IKEA and creative community ArtRebels. ArtRebels started in 2007 as a community and network for artists, musicians, designers, film makers, cultural activists, web designers and event makers.

The common denominator for everything we do at ArtRebels is our undying passion for supporting, promoting and sharing creative and cultural talent.

Karin Gustavsson, Range Strategist at IKEA explains

‘We wanted to create a collection with a fresh attitude, for people moving into their first home or wanting to update their current space. We worked together to create new products in a short time-frame, and upcycled existing IKEA products.’

Carla Cammilla Hjort, founder of ArtRebels, says:

‘We received a call from Sweden telling us that design manager Marcus Engman and other IKEA leaders were meeting in Copenhagen for an inspirational workshop – and would we like to join? We’d talked about the idea of working with IKEA before, so it was exciting – and of course we said yes!’

Furniture, textiles, lighting, porcelain and even wallpaper with no glue that can be stuck on furniture as well. It’s a truly beautiful collection of geometric patterns, hexagon starbursts and pastel tones. The final product will be in-store from February so get it quick!
