Once upon a time, many moons ago, I started sharing work on a small photo-sharing app called Instagram. My challenge was simple. Take a flower and make as many images out of it that I could think of.
This is about freedom of creativity and having a bit of fun.
Well, there were a lot of possibilities so I stuck to 5. From this challenge, Sassy Du Fleur was born. My collaged portrait illustrations developed. Importantly, it was a simple creative challenge that made me happy 🙂 Now I create these compositions as a way to relax or to take a break from my other project work.
Due to the lack of florals over the winter months, I found myself using the same flowers over and over again. As a result I’ve decided to revive the #5wayswithflowers Instagram challenge because I need to inject some lighthearted flowery creativity into Instagram again. Purely for the sake of making pretty pictures. And you’re very welcome to join in. Read on to find out what flower I’ll be using in March.
There aren’t any rules. Just take 1 flower and make 5 images from it. Every month there will be a new flower to style.
Looking back at February Tulips
In February I couldn’t wait to use the tulips that were popping up at my local florist. The imagery you see in this post are the results of setting myself this challenge. This is about freedom of creativity and having a bit of fun.
March #5wayswithflowers – Daffodils
The birth flower for March is fittingly Daffodils, so this will be the flower of the month. If you decide to join me on Instagram, simply tag #5wayswithflowers or #5wayswithflowers_daffodils.
Just take 1 flower and style it 5 ways
As I mentioned, there aren’t any rules really. Just take 1 flower and style it 5 ways. This can include photoshopped imagery, drawn images, collaged artwork, illustrated images, or daffodils made from, well anything really.
Have fun and see you over on Instagram with your March daffs!
Have an inspired day
