When I publish my ‘Friday, I’m in Love’ posts, they are generally centred around an artist/illustrator/photographer who inspires me. This week I posting about 3 amazing artists, all of whom can be found on Etsy. These artists also happen to be appearing all over the net, on Instagram, Pinterest, on bloggers websites etc etc with their mixed media geometric art (side note: check out Great.ly – this type of geometric art is very popular with the Tastemakers).
I’m sure many of you who are into interior design, will be enjoying the ‘Scandinavian interior design look’ at the moment. Minimalist, clean, beautiful lines. Monochrome colour schemes, limited colour. Lovely.
I’ve taken a keen look at the artwork that they are featuring on their lovely perfect Scandinavian interior design walls. A look that I can only aspire to at the moment, whilst I live with a two boys, a baby girl and my hubby. My family of five doesn’t really suit the Scandinavian aesthetic right now. I digress…
I’ve noticed the trend towards geometric shapes (surely you can’t have missed it!) but also lovely painterly textures and watercolour washes. Put them together and you have some beautiful artwork, that works well, not only in your perfect Scandinavian white washed interior but also in our very real family homes, with their mismatched furniture and crayons marks on the wall. Mixed Media Geometric Art.
These artworks have that very modern geometric edge, but they also have that element of the handmade. Watercolour blends, hand-drawn marks, non uniform patterns and dots – lots of dots!
And so to the artists…
1. The first artist is Nynne Rosenvinge aka Spenderbuks on Etsy
2. My second Mixed Media Geometric Artist is Sketch Inc, also on Etsy.
Sellers take note – Sketch Inc’s product styling is second to none. Wonderfully inspiring. Plus there’s some rather lovely geometric brooches and whimsical dolls there too!
3. Artist Britt Castellano, Etsy shop A Hand Crafted Home. Britt actually has a wide variety of artwork – from the abstract to the figurative and witty.
I’ve also attempted my own little Geometric Art here.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed todays ‘Friday Love’. Which just leaves me to say, have a great weekend!
