Floral Typographic Print Inspired by my Mum!
I spent the last day of March, Mothering Sunday, with my wonderful children, husband, Dad, cousin’s and of course, My Mum. Day’s like this make me cherish what I have. It’s easy to miss the special moments in life sometimes. I’m particularly guilty for wishing, wanting and looking for ‘more’, whatever that means.
I would describe my Mum as a ‘Proper Grandma’. On arrival, her warm, cosy bungalow is always filled with sumptuous smells, fresh cut flowers and of course, a few chocolates hidden for the kids to discover in ‘their’ room. On special occasions a glass of Prosecco is always in hand within 5 minutes of walking through the door, a favourite tradition of mine.
Mum loves her family and spoiling us. On Mothering Sunday she cooked a delicious organic roast lamb with all the trimmings, served with a bottle of Argentinian Malbec. Pudding was the choice of a lemon meringue pie or treacle sponge, enjoyed in the conservatory whilst glorious spring sunshine shone through the conservatory windows. All whilst looking out onto her garden and the spring lambs grazing on the south downs beyond. Mum’s house is my haven.
I haven’t been able to share this this new work with you until now for fear of spoiling the surprise! Inspired by my Mum’s utter fabulousness, I collaborated with my typography wizard husband and created this typographic poster. A watercolour wash and spring colour palette in Mum’s favourite colours, it is embellisheed with my signature flowers, butterfly and a single swarovski crystal – Mum and I share the love for a touch of bling.
It’s hard to communicate how much we appreciate our Mum’s and the rest of our families at times. So Mum, this post is dedicated to you because you are simply Fabulous Darling!
Here’s some more details of the print. What two words would describe your Mum?
