I’ve admired the #stylingtheseasons posts for a long while now. Styling the Seasons is a really nice idea started by Katy from Apartment Apothecary and Charlotte from Lotts and Lots. You take a surface in your home and style it according to the season and your inspirations. Just lovely.
I’m a natural collector and rearranger so I’m often faffing about with displaying my latest finds on various shelves and windowsills. The hubby often jokes that he never knows quite what he’ll come home to at the end of the day. Rearranged rooms, new wallpaper to put up. I have a real butterfly mind so I am never really happy!
For my first Styling the Seasons post I’m sharing my banister – quite random I know but I’ve been looking forward all year to having the excuse to use my glitter gold butterfly garland. Adding some white rose christmas lights and fresh ivy from the garden, voila, my minimalist hall has some glittery festive glamour, offering a warm welcome when people enter our home.
A Very Happy Birthday Party
These festive decorations had to be put out in time for a very special event. My daughters 2nd birthday party. This offered the perfect excuse to cook lots of food, dress the house and myself up, spoil my kids, friends and family and just have a lovely pre-Christmas gathering. Styling this season was quite a project this year!
I’d spent the weeks running up to Daisy’s birthday party, making Daisy bunting and cake toppers, arranging picture perfect flower displays, decorating the kitchen with oversized tissue paper fans (available from The Sweet Hostess along with some other gorgeous party wares) and colour co-ordinating my tableware. It was time well spent and we had a fabulous day. It looked pretty lovely too – perfectly over the top and festive.
I had of course intended to take equally well thought out images and share them here but it was all quite chaotic on the day so my photos aren’t as perfect as I would have liked. Still I now have a nice record of a lovely party. I can’t believe my daughter is 2 already? My eldest son becomes a teenager in February so I’m feeling as if life is hurtling by far too quickly!
I have new plans for 2015. Hopefully even a rebrand and new website too. There will of course be new artwork and illustrations too. However I probably won’t be here much over the next couple of weeks. I need time to regroup and relax after a hectic few weeks.
This just leaves me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy this holiday season and I wish you all the the best for the New Year
