Hello again. How’s your week been? Mine has been pretty quiet since my last post on my illustration inspiration. Instead I’m working hard, planning, making and preparing for my forthcoming craft fair in December and building my portfolio.
Doodle & Sketch are back at school, Daisy is back in nursery and our family routine is in full swing. Pretty mundane I suppose. Am I meant to be blogging about something wonderfully exciting and glamorous?!
Sometimes the reality behind the shiny, pretty blog posts and instagram photos is actually just that – mundane. Routine takes over, work, shopping, cooking. We all have to do it. I did find myself feeling a bit bored by it all at the weekend. Am I the only one? Probably not.
I’m very focused on my work and building my illustration portfolio now. Sometimes I feel that I should just stop all this art making business. Be a bit more socialble, have a dinner party, have a girls night out. Take the kids away camping. Go to a zumba class! SOMETIMES is the important word in that previous sentence – it ain’t going to happen, I’m not stopping!
I need to knuckle down so, I guess, I need to embrace the mundane and the hard work. I read this fashion quote
Attitude is Everything
by Diane von Furstenberg
With a good attitude, I can keep pushing through those boring tasks, the endless nights of working on my illustration portfolio, and focus instead on my dreams. A simple motto but just perfect and applicable to all of us.
Do share your important mottos and inspirational quotes. I’m really enjoying finding the perfect face or pose to illustrate my favourite quotes, so expect to see more of this illustration style in the coming months.
