Visual Notebooking: a gentler way to think, plan and reflect on paper.

What is Visual Notebooking?

Visual notebooking is using one notebook to plan, think and reflect with drawings instead of just words.

Instead of relying on pages of written notes or forgotten lists, you use pictures, icons, doodles and shapes to represent information, connect ideas, notice patterns and make sense of what's going on in your head.

You don't need artistic talent. A few simple marks and symbols go a long way.

Who is it for?

You like finding a different way of doing things. Maybe lists and planners never quite fit the way your mind works. Perhaps you just think better with a pen in your hand. Or your thinking comes as pictures, tangents, or connections, and you'd like somewhere for it all to land.

No, you don’t need to be good at drawing!

This isn't an art class. The aim isn't to create a masterpiece. It's about finding a way to think, learn, and express yourself that works for you. You can start with circles, lines, boxes, arrows and a handful of simple symbols.
